Meet Our President

Darron Patterson is a rare commodity in the literary world, possessing a unique blend of both creative and technical writing skills that few writers ... if any ... have.

The two-time Associated Press award winner for 'Best Story of the Year' and native of Mobile, Alabama, received his training in Mass Communications at the University of Texas at El Paso.

He is well-versed in many facets of media, having also worked as floor director at El Paso NBC affiliate KTSM-TV, as well as having been a jazz DJ at El Paso FM radio station KTEP.

After eight years in Texas, Darron returned home to Alabama to write sports at Inner City News in Mobile and later at the Mobile Press Register, where he won numerous awards in both news and sports.

Following 10 years at the Press Register, he joined the Gannett Corporation and went to work for that company's then largest Midwest affiliate, The Detroit News.

He served a brief time at The News as a copy editor, before becoming the TV sports columnist, as well as feature writer for the NFL's Detroit Lions, the Detroit Pistons of the NBA and the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL.

Darron was also beat writer for both the NASCAR and Indy Car racing circuits ... becoming one of the first African Americans to do so for a major metropolitan daily newspaper.

While covering auto racing, he became so fascinated with on-board telemetry systems in the cars that he taught himself technical writing and later went to work for SPX Corporation, developers of technical service information for one of the world's largest automakers.

After five years at SPX, he was hired away by the City of Detroit to become Director of Communications for its multi-million dollar Detroit Resource Management System (DRMS).

He returned to the private sector three years later to become a Senior Technical Writer at Roush Technical Services ... owned by NASCAR racing mogul Jack Roush.

During five years at Roush, Darron earned a congratulatory Certificate of Appreciation from Ford Motor Company for his technical writing work on the 2003 FORDSTAR 6.0L Power Stroke® Diesel Engine New Model Training Course.

But he has long wanted to make his unique writing style available to anyone who chooses to benefit from it.

Hence, his creation of WriteStuf Communications, LLC is the fulfillment of a life-long dream.

Darron is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the Fraternal Order of Masons and the American Society for Technical Development (ASTD).
